Samsung was expected to release the fourth One UI 8.5 beta update last week, but it didn’t. The new beta build may now arrive later this week, but developments behind the scenes suggest the company is already shifting focus toward the stable release. It is reportedly testing a stable One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy S25 series in some regions. Samsung has also closed new beta registrations in South Korea.

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 Beta is nearing the finish line

When announcing the One UI 8.5 Beta Program last month, Samsung made it clear that the stable release would debut alongside its next Galaxy S flagships before gradually rolling out to existing devices. There’s little reason to believe the company will deviate from that plan. It has every incentive to introduce One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 series, where new software helps headline the launch, rather than pushing it out early.

However, current Galaxy users with an eligible model may not have to wait much longer. Recent developments suggest the One UI 8.5 beta program is nearing its final stages. As spotted by Tarun Vats, Samsung is already testing the stable update for the Galaxy S25 series in some markets. A stable build (CZAF) recently replaced the latest beta build (ZZAF) on Samsung’s servers, suggesting ongoing internal testing.

While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the next release will be the stable version, it’s a strong indication that Samsung has ramped up preparations for the update. Reinforcing that view, the company has stopped accepting new beta participants in South Korea. It recently issued a notice confirming that One UI 8.5 beta registrations are now closed, with no plans to reopen them.

All signs point to Samsung rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to the Galaxy S25 series shortly after the Galaxy S26 release. The new flagships are expected to debut on February 25, followed by a market launch on March 11. That said, the company could still surprise users with an early One UI 8.5 rollout. The odds may be slim, but they’re certainly not zero. Stay tuned for more updates.
