Samsung Care+ Explained: Plans, Pricing, Coverage, and Warranty Differences

If you own a Galaxy device, you’ve likely heard of Samsung Care+, Samsung’s optional protection plan designed to go far beyond the standard warranty. It adds coverage for the issues most Galaxy users actually face, including accidental damage, low-cost repairs, and even theft and loss. In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about Care+ in the U.S., including pricing, plan types, deductibles, and how it compares to Samsung’s regular warranty.
Everything you need to know about Samsung Care+
Samsung offers two main Care+ options: the standard plan and Care+ with theft and loss coverage. As you might have guessed, the former doesn’t cover thefts and losses. Let’s dive deeper into both plans.
Samsung Care+ standard plan
This plan covers phones, tablets, watches, wireless earbuds, smart rings, and even PCs, with pricing ranging from $3 to $13 per month. The exact rate depends on the device category: phones and tablets fall into four pricing tiers, PCs into three, watches into two, and buds and rings share a single tier. You can also save a bit by choosing the 24-month plan instead of paying monthly.
For example, a monthly subscription to Samsung Care+ for the Galaxy S25 Ultra costs $13, so you will pay $312 over two years. However, if you pay for 24 months up front, you get the same coverage at just $269, a $43 saving. In fact, there are no monthly plans for PCs. You can see the full pricing structure below.

At these prices, you get unlimited free repairs for any mechanical breakdown in the device, including battery replacement and other hardware failures. Samsung also offers 24/7 expert support and device setup, transfers, and connectivity help. If your device cannot be repaired quickly, you get next-business-day replacements.
Note that Samsung charges a $29 flat fee for screen and back glass repairs across all device types and tiers. Additionally, ADH (accidental damage from handling) repairs and replacements are charged at $99 for phones, tablets, and PCS, and $29 for watches, buds, and rings. So if you accidentally drop your phone and damage it, Samsung will repair or replace it at just $99.
Samsung Care+ with theft and loss
This plan is available only for phones, tablets, and watches (not in New York State due to state insurance regulations). Below’s the full pricing structure.

Samsung Care+ with theft and loss coverage includes everything in the standard plan, plus free cracked screen and back glass repairs (no $29 fee on this plan) and theft and loss replacement. However, Samsung will charge you anywhere between $99 and $199 to replace your stolen/lost device, depending on the model.
You can claim up to three thefts or losses per 12-month period. ADH repairs and replacements (i.e., damage from accidental drops, spills, etc.) are still charged at $99 for phones and tablets, and $29 for watches. All repairs are done by Samsung-certified technicians, always using genuine parts.
What Samsung Care+ does NOT cover
Even with a Samsung Care+ subscription, some exclusions apply. You do not get any coverage for cosmetic wear and tear (scratches, dents, scuffs), intentional or reckless damage, damage from unauthorized repairs or parts, or data loss. Moreover, these plans only cover the main device, not accessories like chargers, cables, and cases. Even if your device is repairable, prior third-party repair can void parts of Care+ coverage.
How does it differ from the Standard Samsung Warranty
Samsung devices come with a 12-month limited warranty covering manufacturing defects, internal component failures or mechanical breakdowns (e.g., motherboard failure, non-functioning camera), and faulty parts and labor. However, you do not get any coverage for accidental damage, liquid damage, damage from using non-Samsung accessories, unauthorized repair damage, or loss or theft.
If Samsung determines the damage is accidental, normal wear, or caused by unauthorized repair, the warranty is void for that issue. You must pay the full repair price. Buying a Samsung Care+ plan saves you several dollars on repair bills and replacements in case you lose your phone or accidentally damage it.
How to buy Samsung Care+ in the U.S. and make claims
Samsung always lets you bundle a Care+ plan with new device purchases. When checking out, simply select the plan you want, pay for it alongside the device’s cost, and you’re all set. However, if you skip Care+ during checkout, you have the option to buy a plan for your device within 60 days of purchase. You can visit the official website and select a plan. You may need a diagnostic test to confirm the device is in good working condition. Additionally, you can walk into a nearby Samsung Experience Store and ask the store personnel to enroll your device in Samsung Care+.
To make a claim, visit the official Samsung Care+ claim portal, choose repair or replacement, pay any deductible (if applicable), submit the claim, and get repair scheduling or next-day replacement. Samsung will ask for the original purchase receipt to process the claim. You may also need to show a valid ID and/or police report for theft/loss claims.
Should you buy Samsung Care+?
There’s no direct answer to this. You may consider buying Samsung Care+ if you use a flagship Galaxy S model or foldables. Without Care+, repairs can cost several hundred dollars. Extended protection is also recommended for people prone to drops or heavy use, like field workers or travelers. Last but not least, anyone worried about theft or loss might want to go with Samsung Care+ with theft and loss coverage.
Meanwhile, people who upgrade yearly and treat phones gently may want to sit out. Samsung Care+ is also not a good fit for low-cost devices, including watches, buds, and rings. Those who already have third-party insurance or always use thick cases and screen protectors also have little reason to spend extra on Care+. If you have questions, reach out to us on X.
