Samsung Browser May Soon Help You Save Money With Smart Shopping

Samsung may be getting ready to make its browser more useful for online shopping. A pre-release build of One UI 9 shows the Samsung Browser could add a “Smart shopping” feature that finds coupon codes and applies them at checkout automatically, saving time and money.
Samsung Browser’s upcoming Smart shopping feature could bring automated savings
According to a teardown by Android Authority, strings found in Samsung Browser v30.0.0.39, pulled from an early One UI 9 build, point to a system that looks for relevant discount codes as you browse retail sites. The browser could notify users when coupons are available. It will also show whether they’re still valid, and offer a one-tap option to copy or apply them.
It may go further than simple suggestions. The code hints at automatic coupon application at checkout, which would make the process almost effortless once it’s turned on. That convenience comes with trade-offs. The system reportedly uses contextual data like the site you’re on, items in your cart, your region, time of access, and even your IP address to surface relevant deals.
It will be an opt-in feature, not mandatorily turned on for everyone
Samsung seems aware of the privacy angle. Hence, the feature is expected to be opt-in, with a clear toggle to enable or disable automatic coupon use. References in the code also suggest Smart shopping will only work with participating retail and commerce sites. So, stores may need to opt in as well.
Although it showed up in a One UI 9 build, the rollout may not be tied to the OS update, as Samsung often updates its browser through the Galaxy Store. That means it could arrive on older versions like One UI 8.5 too. We sure can’t wait to try out the feature, and see how helpful it turns out to be.
