It’s no secret that Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series will bring a host of hardware and software upgrades. One of the biggest software enhancements could be the introduction of a “new Bixby”. The upcoming flagships will reportedly feature a significantly smarter version of Samsung’s AI assistant, offering advanced capabilities.

Galaxy S25 series to feature the new Bixby

A few weeks ago, Samsung introduced an upgraded version of Bixby, its AI assistant for Galaxy phones. The so-called “new Bixby” is smarter, delivering enhanced intelligence and capabilities. However, it is limited to a single device in a single market — it debuted exclusively with the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in China. Even the Korean version of this foldable lacked it.

It appears the upgraded Bixby will finally reach more users next year with the Galaxy 25 series. There have been a few rumors about Samsung potentially rolling out the new Bixby globally with the 2025 flagships. Noted leaker Ice Universe recently added weight to these claims. “The biggest selling point of [the] Galaxy S25 series: the new Bixby returns!” they posted on X.

In a follow-up comment, the tipster hinted that Samsung has completely reworked its AI assistant. Unlike its earlier iterations, which were often criticized as sluggish and limited, the new Bixby is reportedly a much more capable and dynamic tool.

The updated Bixby is powered by large language models (LLMs), enabling it to understand natural language and context more effectively. This enhancement could make the assistant significantly smarter and more versatile, finally catching up to the likes of Google Assistant and Apple Siri.

Samsung might launch the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025, with the launch event potentially taking place in San Francisco, USA.
