Samsung Actively Testing One UI 8.5 for Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A17 5G

Samsung is actively working on its next big software update, One UI 8.5. Over the past few weeks, One UI 8.5 test builds have been spotted for several Galaxy devices. Now, the testing has expanded to two of Samsung’s popular budget phones: Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A17 5G. This clearly shows that Samsung is not limiting One UI 8.5 to high-end models. The company is also testing it for budget devices.
One UI 8.5 testing expands to Galaxy A16 5G and Galaxy A17 5G
Last week, the Galaxy A16 5G appeared on Samsung’s test servers with a One UI 8.5 build. The test build was spotted in Europe and Turkey, and builds for other regions should show up soon. The latest One UI 8.5 test build for the Galaxy A16 5G carries the firmware version A166BXXU5DYLD.
At the same time, Samsung is also testing the One UI 8.5 for the newer Galaxy A17 5G in more regions. The build version in question is A176BXXU3CYL5 and the testing is live in India, Europe, and Turkey. Again, you can’t try out this build yet and Samsung also won’t offer the beta update on these devices. But what’s interesting is Samsung is actively testing the One UI 8.5 build, which, if anything means that these two phones are one step closer to the bigger update.
So far, several other Galaxy A series phones have already appeared with One UI 8.5 builds on test servers. These include the Galaxy A56, A55, A36 and A17 5G. Upcoming models like the Galaxy A57 and A37 have been spotted too. They are expected to launch with One UI 8.5 pre-installed next year. As of now, no One UI 8.5 test builds have appeared for any M series or F series devices.
If your device is eligible for One UI 8.5 and has not yet appeared with a One UI 8.5 test build, it should be spotted soon. Samsung does not follow a fixed pattern while testing software updates. And for what it’s worth, One UI 8.5 comes packed with a bunch of features and refinements.
