Rogers Launches Satellite-to-Mobile Service for Multiple Galaxy Devices

Rogers has recently launched a new satellite-to-mobile text messaging service for all Canadians. Dubbed Rogers Satellite, this next-generation wireless technology is now available in a beta trial. If you have an eligible Galaxy smartphone, including the Galaxy S25, you can sign up for early access for free.
Rogers launches Canada’s first satellite-to-mobile texting service
Rogers has become the first wireless carrier in Canada to offer direct satellite connectivity to smartphones. As of now, the satellite service supports text messaging and text-to-911 only. The company will expand the service to apps, data, and voice services, including 911 voice calls, in the future.
“We’re proud to introduce this ground-breaking technology to help Canadians stay safe and connected in more places,” said Tony Staffieri, President and CEO, Rogers. “Earlier this month Rogers celebrated the 40th anniversary of the first wireless call in Canada, and this new technology represents the next big leap in wireless connectivity. We’re proud to continue our legacy of innovative firsts and to connect Canadians in more places.”

Unlike traditional cellular networks, satellite networks work differently and come in handy during emergencies when regular service is unavailable. Speaking of coverage, Rogers Satellite service is available in more than 5.4 million square kilometres within Canada. It offers satellite-to-mobile connectivity directly from a low Earth orbit satellite constellation to your smartphone.
The Canadian carrier has opened the Rogers Satellite beta program, allowing users to try out this game-changing service ahead of its commercial launch. The early access program is live for the Galaxy S25 series, including the latest Galaxy S25 Edge. Starting on July 22, 2025, it will also roll out to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 via software update. The company also says Rogers Satellite will be available for Galaxy S24, S23, S22, S21, S20, S10, and A5 devices in the future.
It’s quite simple to join the beta trial — visit the Rogers Satellite page and sign up. While the satellite service is free during the beta program, it will be available for $15 per month once the trial ends. However, beta participants will get a $5 discount per month for the first 12 months. If you are already in Rogers Ultimate Plan, you can enjoy the service at no additional cost.
