Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge generated plenty of buzz earlier this year, but the chatter has faded lately. This is after the company postponed the launch at the last minute. Originally slated for mid-April, the unveiling was delayed to May following the announcement of new US tariff regulations. Fortunately, there’s no indication of further delays, so Samsung’s new “slim flagship” should debut next month.
Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in May
Rumored to be just 5.84mm thick, the Galaxy S25 Edge is an incredibly slim smartphone. Samsung teased the device at Galaxy Unpacked in January 2025 and later showcased it at MWC 2025. There have also been plenty of leaks about this phone in recent weeks. Despite its sleekness, Samsung aims to maintain durability by utilizing a titanium frame, promising both strength and scratch resistance.
While the “Edge” branding may hint at a curved display, that’s not the case. The Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a flat display measuring around 6.7 inches diagonally. Though unconfirmed, we expect a flagship OLED panel with the same 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and 2,600 nits peak brightness as the other S25 models.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S25 Edge is widely tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, the same flagship chipset powering the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup. This suggests flagship-level performance for smooth multitasking, gaming, and demanding applications. The device should come with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 256GB and 512GB. There is no indication of a microSD card slot for expandable storage.
This slim flagship houses a dual-camera setup within an oblong island. We are looking at a high-resolution 200MP primary camera paired with a 12MP ultrawide lens. The Galaxy S25 Edge misses out on a dedicated telephoto lens, something found in most high-end phones — it’s a compromise you have to make for a slim profile. For selfies and video calls, you get a 12MP front-facing camera.
You’ll also be getting a small battery, likely with 4,000mAh or less capacity. Additionally, the phone might miss out on the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 45W charging, topping out at 25W. Color options may include Titanium Icy Blue, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Silver. Weighing in at a light 162 grams, portability is another key aspect of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
It could be a limited initial launch
The new expected launch date for the Galaxy S25 Edge is May 13, 2025. However, the rollout might not be global immediately, with initial availability likely in South Korea and China. Or maybe that won’t be the case. After all, Samsung delayed the launch to optimize its market release. We shall find out in the coming weeks. The Galaxy S25 Edge could cost somewhere around $1,100.
