A few days ago, we exclusively revealed two exciting things about the Samsung Internet. One of which was how to enable the redesigned interface, and the other one was a way to enable AI features even on phones that don’t support Galaxy AI features. Now, according to @Feruzbek_101, updating to Samsung Internet v28.0.059 will remove those AI-powered features.
Samsung seemingly removes AI features if you update the Internet browser
Thus, it’s recommended to skip the update to Samsung Internet v28.0.059 if your phone doesn’t support Galaxy AI. If it does, you can update for sure. The reason why it’s being removed is that our writer Josh Skinner found a way to go through the debug menu and somehow enable it. It wasn’t official ever. That’s one big reason why it’s being removed.
This workaround, while ingenious, was never officially supported by Samsung. Consequently, with the release of Samsung Internet v28.0.059, these unofficially enabled AI features are being removed. The update likely includes code that disables access to the debug settings or removes the hidden options altogether. That effectively prevents users from reactivating the AI functionalities on unsupported devices.
Therefore, if your device doesn’t officially support Galaxy AI, it’s advisable to avoid updating to v28.0.059 to retain access to these features. If your device does support Galaxy AI officially, you can go ahead and update without concern. But if you’ve been enjoying AI features through the unofficial method, updating will likely strip them away permanently.
While hidden settings and debug tools can sometimes unlock experimental features, they’re not guaranteed to remain available. In this case, Samsung is simply closing a loophole that allowed unsupported devices to access premium functionality.
