PSA: Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 & S11 Ultra Have No Vibration Motor

Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab S11 lineup may be its most advanced generation of tablets yet, but one familiar feature is missing: vibration feedback. It looks like the company has removed the haptic motor from both models. The Sound and Vibration menu in Settings has now been reduced to just “Sound”, confirming that vibration feedback is gone across the entire series.

Truth be told, haptics on previous Galaxy tablets never felt particularly premium. Compared to the crisp, tight vibrations in Samsung’s phones, the motors inside older Galaxy Tabs came across as weak and hollow, more of a checkbox feature than a meaningful addition. Perhaps a tiny motor inside a large slate struggles to produce convincing feedback, often feeling cheap rather than helpful.

Removing the haptic motor may actually be Samsung’s way of acknowledging that tablets don’t benefit much from vibration feedback. Apple’s iPads, for example, do not ship with a vibration motor. The reasoning may be simple: unlike phones, tablets are too big to carry in your pocket, so they don’t need a vibration buzz to get your attention when out of view.

That said, Samsung could have chosen to refine the experience instead of removing it entirely. A better-quality or slim linear motor might have given the Galaxy Tab S11 series a more distinctive edge over rivals. Instead, the move suggests that the Korean firm is simply copying Apple at the expense of offering something better, again.

While the loss of haptics might disappoint those who enjoyed the subtle vibrations while typing or navigating, it’s likely to be a non-issue for the majority of buyers. The Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra are performance-first devices. In that context, haptic feedback simply didn’t make the cut.
