The anticipation for One UI 7.0 is building by the day, fueled by the constant delays. It’s hard to admit, but we’re all getting desperate for it. It’s the very desperation that scammers take advantage of.

A new (fake) One UI 7.0 exclusive update invite scam can lock you out of your Galaxy

A recent scam reportedly comes from Vietnam, according to @chunvn8888. It lures Galaxy users with the promise of an exclusive invite to the One UI 7.0 beta. The bait? A fake One UI 7.0 beta update link.

Who wouldn’t want to try on early releases? That’s where things go wrong, however. Victims click the link and are asked to log in to their Samsung accounts, which they do. It might seem harmless. But this is where the scam takes a dark turn. Once users enter their credentials, they are redirected to the official Samsung app, but by then, the damage is done. Behind the scenes, the scammers have already gained access to the victim’s account.

Before they even realize what’s happening, the scammers use SmartThings Find to lock the device remotely. It’s all gone now, leaving you in a state where you can’t even unlock your phone and just stare at the screen. At the time of writing, only one was reported to have faced this issue. You can check out what the victim shared.

Fake One UI 7.0 Update Scam

When is One UI 7.0 expected to release?

Let me say it loud and clear: Samsung hasn’t officially dropped any dates. So, whatever is swirling around online is purely speculative. That said, leaks aren’t always shots in the dark. Many come from credible sources with a proven track record. Still, if you’re a general user, steer clear of installing anything that doesn’t come through official channels.

Right now, it’s rumored that the One UI 7.0 update could roll out in the coming weeks. Predictably, it will debut on the Galaxy S24 series, followed by the S23 and others. Until then, stay safe and share this with your friends and loved ones.
