OpenAI Offering ChatGPT Go Free for One Year to Users in India

OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT Go, its low-cost subscription plan, is now free for one year. However, this offer is valid only for eligible users in India who sign up during a limited-time promotional period. So, hurry up and experience advanced AI tools for free during the first year.

Here’s how you can redeem 12-month ChatGPT Go subscription for free!

With the ChatGPT Go plan (INR 399 per month), you get access to OpenAI’s flagship model, GPT-5. The plan also lets you enjoy extended access to image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis tools. Now, if you live in India (whether you are a new or an existing free user), you can redeem the plan for free. Even existing ChatGPT Go subscribers can take advantage of it.

OpenAI is letting users redeem this promotion through both ChatGPT Web and the mobile apps. If you prefer using the web version, you need to first visit the ChatGPT website. Now, sign up or log in, and then click on Try ChatGPT Go. Alternatively, you can go to Settings > Account > Try ChatGPT Go.

Finally, proceed to checkout, where you will need to enter your payment method: either a credit card or UPI. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged during the 12-month free period. Note that if you choose UPI, you may see a temporary INR 1 charge that will be refunded.

If you’re on Android, update or download the ChatGPT app from the Google Play Store. Then open the app and log in or sign up for your account. Tap the Try Go button on the home screen, or go to Settings > Upgrade to Go for Free. Now, set up a payment method and enjoy a free 12-month subscription.

Note that the offer is available for a limited time. Also, as @smasithick points out, don’t cancel your subscription right after redeeming it. If you do so, your free access may stop after one month, and you won’t be able to get the offer again. You can set a reminder to cancel before the renewal date to avoid being charged.
