Samsung is gearing up to launch its next wearable software update, One UI 8 Watch, skipping One UI Watch 6.5 and 7. Yesterday, tipster DevOfIpos extracted firmware from the One UI Watch 8’s leaked firmware, revealing new audio files, redesigned icons, and Gemini integration.
Now, folks over at Android Authority have further dug into the APK file and discovered some interesting tidbits about how Gemini will actually work on your wrist. The publication has spotted the mention of ‘Gemini Actions,’ which suggests that Galaxy users might be able to use the same app-linking and task automation functionality that Gemini already offers on Android phones.
On top of that, the APK file also mentions some specific phrases such as “Move my next meeting 30min later”, “Summarize my last email”, and “What’s the weather in London”. This suggests the user will be able to manage calendar events, summarize emails, and answer general queries on their Galaxy Watch, making interactions more seamless.
Another notable feature found within the APK file is the “Tap screen to mute”. This feature may allow users to quickly mute Gemini’s voice responses with a simple tap — a convenient option in public or during a workout.
As of now, these features are hidden within the APK file, but soon they should be available to the public when Samsung announces its One UI 8 Watch. The good news is that we don’t have to wait for too long to get Gemini on the Galaxy Watch. Rumor has it that Samsung may unveil One UI 8 Watch alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic in early July 2025.
