One UI 8 May Bring Improved Animation Engine for Flawless App Switching

by | May 1, 2025 | News, One UI

Samsung is currently rolling out the One UI 7 update to several eligible devices across various regions at full speed. At the same time, the Korean firm is also developing its next-generation One UI, One UI 8, hinting at an early release. For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been seeing an early look at the next UI. And today, a fresh leak reveals One UI 8’s animations, which are pretty impressive.

One UI 8 may feature an improved animation engine

X user @Gamer0mega has managed to install the early build of One UI 8 on their Galaxy Z Flip 6, giving us a glimpse at the animations of One UI 8. Thanks to Samsung for making those early builds available on the Remote Test Lab, allowing developers and enthusiasts to experience the new OS.

It looks like One UI 8 has a better animation engine than One UI 7. They wrote on X, “One UI 8 features a new animation engine that no longer interrupts if you spam more than 2 apps like it did with One UI 7.” We can see that One UI 8 has indeed made significant improvements to animation with more detailed app movements and transitions.

The user also compared the animations with those in One UI 7 and found that One UI 8 fixes the animation issues. They wrote on X, “This is One UI 7. Look closer, when I exit an app while another app is closing, the other animation just disappears, which is completely fixed on 8.” So, in One UI 8, the animations now stay smooth and don’t get cut off, even when switching between apps quickly.

Refining animations and tweaking system apps

While Samsung has already improved the animation in One UI 7, there’s always room for improvement. It’s good to see that Samsung is putting effort into improving animation in the upcoming Android 16-based One UI 8.

Of course, we can’t expect a major overhaul in One UI 8, as Samsung has already made significant changes in One UI 7. But we may see design tweaks in several system apps such as Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet, and Quick Share.

The good thing is that we won’t have to wait longer to see all the improvements and changes of One UI 8. Rumors are swirling that Samsung will launch One UI 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July 2025.
