One UI 8.5 Finally Brings Full Dual SIM Control to US

When Samsung finally launches the Galaxy S26 series, it’ll also unveil and talk at length about the One UI 8.5 update. It’s currently available in beta, and it looks set to bring a bunch of new additions, many of which have surfaced through beta builds or leaks. As it turns out, One UI 8.5 includes some good news for those who use dual SIM in the US.

Samsung improves multi SIM support in the US with latest One UI 8.5 beta
Those outside the US have long enjoyed full control over dual SIM setups. They can decide which SIM handles calls, which one sends texts, and which line carries mobile data. Those in the US were left out in the cold, however. The feature simply hasn’t been available in the same granular form.
That appears to be changing. Screenshots shared by Reddit user slylte (via Android Authority), which we also confirmed on our Galaxy S25 Ultra running the latest One UI 8.5 beta build, reveal new menu options that let US users assign specific roles to each SIM. In plain terms, it’s the same flexibility international customers have had for years.

Dual SIM usage has traditionally been more popular overseas, but the tide’s been turning in the US. With eSIM adoption growing and more people juggling work and personal numbers on a single device, demand’s steadily increased. Samsung’s previous approach has looked increasingly out of step. Better late than never.

For now, the One UI 8.5 beta is only available for the Galaxy S25 lineup. Samsung recently rolled out its fifth beta build and has reportedly begun internal testing on a sixth. Once the Galaxy S26 family is formally introduced, stable updates are expected to follow for existing devices that didn’t take part in the beta program.
