One UI 8.5 Beta 2 Breaks Expert RAW on Galaxy S25 [U: Update Available]

UPDATE (December 24, 2025): Samsung has released an update for the Expert RAW app on Galaxy S25 units running One UI 8.5 Beta 2. Version 5.0.04.9 of the app addresses the issue, restoring normal functioning for beta users. Update now from the Galaxy Store.
The original article, published on December 23, follows.
Samsung’s second One UI 8.5 Beta for the Galaxy S25 lineup brings a fresh round of refinements and camera-focused upgrades. Most notably, the company added several new options to Camera Assistant, enhancing the camera experience across both Pro and regular shooting modes. However, the update also broke Expert RAW, its pro-grade camera app.
Expert RAW is currently broken on One UI 8.5 Beta 2
Expert RAW is Samsung’s most powerful camera app, designed for enthusiasts and professionals who want more than the stock Pro mode can offer. It uses advanced multi-frame computational processing to produce high-quality RAW images with improved dynamic range and detail. Features like astrophotography, long-exposure shooting, and precise manual controls have made it a favorite among serious Galaxy photographers.
However, for Galaxy S25 users participating in One UI 8.5 Beta, the app is currently broken. The app no longer works on the second beta build, and this isn’t an isolated glitch. We tested multiple Galaxy S25 units running the latest beta, and the issue occurs across all of them. When launched, Expert RAW prompts users to update the app via the Galaxy Store, but no update is actually available, leaving the app unable to open.
Without it, the app simply refuses to launch, effectively locking users out of Expert RAW entirely. It appears to be a compatibility issue, and an updated version of the app should be available soon. In fact, some users extracted APK from a recent Expert RAW update for non-beta software, and it works on One UI 8.5 Beta 2. Samsung should soon roll out this version to beta users to restore functionality on the new beta firmware.
Until that happens, users who rely heavily on Expert RAW may want to think twice before installing the second beta build, unless you are comfortable sideloading an unverified APK file. We will let you know when we have more information.
