Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 update is now available for several eligible devices. After a long wait, Galaxy users finally get a taste of the new OS, which brings a bunch of new Galaxy AI features. However, some users have reported that One UI 7 is causing quick battery drain, raising concerns about potential underlying issues.
One UI 7 update sparks battery life concerns among Galaxy users
As you know, Samsung’s One UI 7 is one of the biggest upgrades that brings a major overhaul to the system. It introduces several new AI features, including a revamped user interface and a new pill-shaped Now Bar for quick notifications. So, it’s common that you may experience fast battery drain after updating to the One UI 7.
When a device gets a major update, it often needs some time to adjust. The system takes a few hours or even days to optimize apps, complete background tasks, and other backend processes. As a result, battery life can seem worse at first. The good thing is that battery life improves on its own after a few days of regular use. However, if the battery continues to drain quickly after a week or so, then there might be an issue that you need to address.
While we have not experienced a battery drain issue so far on our multiple Galaxy devices running One UI 7, many users with a Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 have been complaining on Reddit, Samsung’s support forums, and X. A Galaxy Z Fold 6 user wrote on Reddit, “While I used to end up my day with 45/50%, after the update, I’m down to 20-25%. It’s been 5-6 days since I’ve updated, and I’m hoping it gets better with time.”
Samsung has not responded to the battery issue yet
The One UI 7 update had some bugs at first, but the company fixed them and is now rolling the update again. So, it looks like there are still some issues affecting some units. So far, Samsung has not officially addressed the problem, but we can expect the company to include a fix in the May 2025 security update.
For now, as Android Police points out, basic troubleshooting methods like performing a factory reset should work for affected users. We will let you know if Samsung posts any comments regarding the battery drain issue.
