Samsung has started rolling out the Android 15-based One UI 7 update to the Galaxy F16, marking the first major OS upgrade for the entry-level smartphone. This follows closely on the heels of the big update for the Galaxy A16 and A16 5G released last week. The company is rushing to complete the One UI 7 rollout for all eligible models as it starts beta testing One UI 8.

Galaxy F16 gets One UI 7, the first of six promised Android OS upgrades

Launched in March this year, the Galaxy F16 arrived with Android 14 out of the box. It is covered under Samsung’s expanded software commitment that promises six major Android OS updates for budget and mid-range devices and seven major updates for flagships. The first of those is now available, with the company pushing One UI 7 with Android 15.

This update for the Galaxy F16 carries firmware version E166PXXU2BYE5 weighs around 2.72GB. Samsung has bundled the April 2025 security patch with One UI 7. This is a bit surprising, as pretty much every other device that received One UI 7 in recent weeks picked up the May patch.

But then, the Galaxy F16 is the only Samsung phone launched in 2025 to ship with Android 14. All others run Android 15 (one UI 7), so maybe it sits a little low in the company’s priority list. Nonetheless, this update brings a lot to the new budget phone. It introduces a redesigned interface, performance improvements, and a suite of new features. Samsung aims to make the phone more intuitive, customizable, and secure.

One UI 7 is currently available for the Galaxy F16 in India, but should soon expand to other global markets. You can check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once downloaded, tap Install now, and your phone will reboot to complete the installation.
