If you’ve recently updated your Samsung phone or tablet to One UI 7 and suddenly noticed the Bluetooth icon missing from the status bar, you’re not alone. Many users have been puzzled by its disappearance, wondering if their phone is malfunctioning. But don’t worry — it’s not a bug. It’s an intentional design change by Samsung.
One UI 7 doesn’t show the Bluetooth icon and many others in the status bar for a cleaner look
Samsung has officially confirmed that it removed the Bluetooth icon from the status bar as part of a broader visual refresh in One UI 7. Responding to a user on the official community forum, a Samsung moderator said that the company intends to keep the interface cleaner and more focused by only showing the most essential icons at the top of the screen.
Alongside the Bluetooth icon, this change also applies to the “alarm on” indicator and a few other icons. These indicators are no longer permanently visible in the status bar, though they haven’t disappeared completely. You can simply swipe down from the top of the screen to see all the active toggles or icons in the status bar.
While we find it a good move to declutter the screen, we understand that not everyone likes the change. We have seen several people complain about the missing icons across various online platforms, including X, Reddit, and Samsung Community. Thankfully, Samsung says it’s listening to user feedback. The community moderator says the company is open to adjusting the experience based on what users want.
If you want the Bluetooth and alarm icons to appear permanently in the status bar, you might want to share your feedback via the Samsung Members app. Note that One UI 7 still isn’t available widely, while Samsung is already working on One UI 8. If the company decides to reverse this change based on user feedback, we could see the icons return with the One UI 8 update later this year.
