Samsung held their annual developer conference this morning and they provided scarce information on the One UI 7.0 front. Galaxy users were hoping for information about the design and layout of the new operating system. Instead, we received a broad overview for the vision of One UI . Samsung also provided a vague timeline for the beta release, promising it by the end of 2024.

Luckily, Samsung did bring One UI 7.0 to SDC 2024, just not in the way anyone expected. Many of the demo devices in the Code Lab section of the event are openly running One UI 7.0. The new notification panel and quick settings are on full display and look very refined. While the overall spirit of the design is similar to earlier leaked photos and renders, the finished product looks much better.

The biggest change for these panels in One UI 7.0 is the split between quick toggles and notifications. These are now two separate shades in 7.0, but you do have the option to switch back to the style of One UI 6.1. The tile aesthetic is on full display in the quick settings and it does appear these tiles are customizable.

SDC 2024 quick settings

We got the chance to play with a Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 7.0 and can confirm that the experience is incredibly smooth. The animations for the notification shade and quick panel are fluid and feature refined blur elements mentioned in the SDC 2024 keynote. It will certainly take Galaxy users a while to get used to these changes, but our initial impressions are very positive.

Stay tuned to the site for more breaking coverage of One UI and SDC 2024! We will have more info on One UI 7.0 design elements, icons, and settings changes. In addition, we’re covering all the latest Galaxy AI news at this AI focussed event. The One UI 7.0 stable version will release in early 2025, alongside the next generation Galaxy devices.
