Samsung has finally launched the One UI 8 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series, and as expected, it brings a myriad of new features. However, there are some surprising omissions as well. Most notably, the first beta update lacks Now Brief, which was present in leaked internal builds.

Galaxy S24 doesn’t get Now Brief with its first One UI 8 beta

One UI 8 beta is now available for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra in India, South Korea, the UK, and the US. The update brings UI enhancements, new camera features, AI upgrades, and tons of other changes. Samsung’s new adaptive lock screen clock, which automatically adjusts its size and placement based on wallpaper visibility, makes the cut. You also get AI-powered wallpaper image suggestions for quick customization.

However, as @thatjoshguy69 notedtwo much-anticipated features are absent: Now Brief and instant audio eraser. Now Brief missing in the Galaxy S24’s first One UI 8 beta build comes as a surprise. Samsung’s AI-powered at-a-glance widget was available and fully functional in earlier internal builds. It’s unclear why Samsung decided to drop it from the public beta.

While Now Brief will almost certainly roll out to the Galaxy S24 series, it remains to be seen whether that happens with the next beta release or if users will have to wait for the stable update. Samsung has already confirmed that the stable One UI 8 will be available starting in September, with the Galaxy S25 lineup getting it first. Others may not receive the Android 16-based update until sometime in October.

As far as the beta is concerned, Samsung plans to launch One UI 8 beta programs for more devices in the coming weeks. We will keep a close eye on the ongoing developments and let you know when we have more information.
