Samsung recently showcased its long-rumored Galaxy Z TriFold for the first time, offering a glimpse at what could be the company’s most ambitious smartphone yet. The device made a surprise appearance at a private event in South Korea last week. While the phone was displayed inside a protective glass enclosure, someone grabbed a full-length video offering a close look at its stunning design.

Galaxy Z TriFold shown from all angles in a new video

A video posted by Omokgyo Electronics Mall and SUBUSUNEWS on YouTube shows Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold from all angles. While the device on display was likely a prototype, it looks remarkably refined and production-ready, suggesting the company is in the final stages of development. Like the Fold 7, the tri-fold features a vertically aligned triple-camera setup with a raised island and metallic rings around each lens.

Samsung appears to have designed the device to look like an expanded Fold 7, now with two hinges. Both foldable sections fold inwards, protecting the main display when closed. This design choice offers a clear advantage over competitors like Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, which folds in both directions. Huawei’s approach leaves part of the foldable screen exposed and vulnerable to damage.

There’s a 6.5-inch cover screen on the back, while the unfolded internal display expands to a massive 10 inches, transforming the phone into a small tablet. When fully unfolded, the device is reportedly as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (4.2mm). However, it becomes noticeably thicker when folded due to its tri-panel design. Reports suggest a folded thickness of 12mm to 15mm (Fold 7 is just 8.9mm thick).

The device looks production-ready

While still a prototype, Samsung’s craftsmanship looks solid. The hinge system seems smooth and well-engineered, indicating significant progress toward a market-ready model. Leaks suggest a similar camera setup as the Fold 7, including a 200MP primary sensor, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The Galaxy Z TriFold also houses a selfie camera on the cover display and another on the inner foldable screen.

Additionally, it includes dual speakers and three microphones at the top, likely optimized for clearer audio capture during calls and content creation. The whole package may come at a premium of $3,000 or more, with Samsung looking to produce between 50,000 and 150,000 units initially, adjusting volume based on demand. The phone is expected to launch first in South Korea and China later this year, followed by limited availability in select global markets in 2026.
