After a brief pause, Samsung has resumed rolling out the stable One UI 7 update for several Galaxy devices. While it may take a few months to complete the rollout, there is already chatter about an early release of One UI 8. Recently, the Korean firm listed new One UI 8 test builds for the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 on its servers, hinting at the ongoing development. On top of that, the Flip 6 surfaced on Geekbench running One UI 8.
Samsung lists new One UI 8 builds, Z Flip 6 appears on Geekbench
A few days ago, Samsung added a One UI 8 internal build to its Remote Test tab. Shortly after, developers and enthusiasts installed the early build on their Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, giving us a glimpse at the next-gen One UI. Today, Samsung listed a new build, CYDD, on its server, though it is not yet available on the Remote test tab. This new build suggests that the development of One UI 8 is moving at full speed, hinting at its early launch.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has been spotted on Geekbench v6 with Android 16 (One UI 8). Given that enthusiasts have already installed One UI 8, its appearance on the benchmarking platforms is not surprising. But it shows us some performance score, giving us an idea of its optimization.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 running One UI 8 managed to score 1749 points in single-core CPU tests, while in multi-core tests, it scored 3941 points. These scores are quite low at the moment, as the build is still in the early stage of the development process.
With further software optimizations, both single-core and multi-core scores should increase. If the Korean firm makes the latest One UI 8 CYDD build available via the Remote Test Lab, we will learn about the improvements, new changes, and more.
In related news, Google now lets several partner OEMs push Android 16 beta to their users. As of now, Samsung is not part of the beta program, but the Korean firm is moving closer to joining it. Earlier reports suggested One UI 8 will launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July or August 2025.
