Motorola Launches Razr Fold to Challenge Galaxy Z Fold 7

Motorola officially launched the Razr Fold, marking the company’s first entry into book-style foldables. The device takes direct aim at Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, positioning Motorola as a fresh challenger in the premium large-screen foldable space. The company has yet to announce a release date for the phone.
Motorola enters the “big” foldable scene with the Razr Fold
The Razr Fold sports a 6.6-inch external OLED display that unfolds into a large 8.1-inch internal 2K LTPO panel, giving users a tablet-like experience when opened. While we do not have exact dimensions, early impressions highlight Motorola’s approach to keep the phone relatively slim. Samsung has also been chasing slimmer foldables, so it should be no coincidence but a thoughtful move.
Photography is handled by a triple 50MP rear camera setup, including wide, ultrawide/macro, and 3x zoom lenses. The primary camera employs a Sony Lytia sensor, with Motorola claiming support for Dolby Vision video capture for vibrant, high-dynamic-range clips. For selfies, users get a 32MP camera on the outer screen and a 20MP camera inside.
The Razr Fold also introduces Moto Pen Ultra stylus support, boosting its productivity appeal for note-taking, sketching, and precise input. Motorola appears to be targeting a gap left by Samsung, which dropped S Pen support on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, even though earlier Fold models offered stylus compatibility.
Motorola’s new foldable runs on Android 16 with Hello UI, and the software is expected to take full advantage of the larger display with flexible layouts, improved multitasking, and adaptive interfaces designed for the foldable form factor. However, it may still fall short of Samsung’s mature One UI for foldables, which the company has tailored for its Fold lineup.
Price and Availability
Motorola will sell the Razr Fold in Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White colors. However, it has not fully disclosed the price or exact availability yet. Rumors and early leaks suggest pricing could start around $1,500–$1,800, putting it solidly in the premium range but still affordable than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which debuted at $1,999. More details should emerge closer to the market release. But if you are planning to get a book-style foldable, make sure to check out Samsung’s latest deals on the Fold 7.
