MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9500s and 8500 for Next-Gen Premium Phones

MediaTek has unveiled two new Dimensity chips: the Dimensity 9500s and the Dimensity 8500. These new chips bring high performance, energy efficiency, cutting-edge AI, and better gaming experiences for premium and flagship smartphones. It’s unclear if Samsung plans to use these chipsets in upcoming Galaxy devices.
New MediaTek chips bring powerful performance for high-end smartphones
The Dimensity 9500s is MediaTek’s new flagship chipset for high-end smartphones. Based on a 3nm process, the chip delivers incredibly energy-efficient performance. It features an octa-core CPU with an “All Big Core” design, including one Cortex-X925 ultra core (max frequency 3.73 GHz), three Cortex-X4 premium cores, and four Cortex-A720 performance cores.
In the graphics segment, the Dimensity 9500s feature the Immortalis-G925 GPU for smooth gaming. It supports advanced ray tracing, adaptive game technology 3.0 (MAGT 3.0), and frame technology 3.0 (MFRC 3.0). The latter two features help lower power consumption during drastic gaming sessions.

Thanks to the flagship NPU, the Dimensity 9500s are optimized for tasks such as AI photo editing, generative reasoning, and content summarization. Moreover, the chips’ MediaTek Imagiq image processor supports 8K Dolby Vision HDR video recording and 30fps real-time motion tracking.
Dimensity 9500s come with advanced connectivity features. The chip features a 5G Release-17 modem that supports 4CC carrier aggregation and offers download speeds of up to 7Gbps. To improve power efficiency, it supports MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0, while AI Network Suite 2.0 enhances connectivity in weak network environments. The chip also features MediaTek Xtra Range 3.0 for better indoor Wi-Fi coverage and supports phone-to-phone Bluetooth direct connections of up to 5 kilometers.
What the Dimensity 8500 offers
Now, coming to the Dimensity 8500, this chip uses a 4nm process and follows the All Big Core CPU architecture. Its octa-core CPU consists of eight Cortex-A725 cores, with a frequency up to 3.4 GHz. For graphics, we get a Mali-G720 GPU. As such, the chip can offer 25% higher peak performance than its predecessor while reducing power consumption by 20%. It supports LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory and accurate scheduling technology.

In addition, the Dimensity 8500 supports ray tracing for mainstream mobile games, allowing users to enjoy more realistic image quality. Thanks to MediaTek’s 8th-generation NPU, the chip supports global mainstream large language models (LLMs/MLLMs) and image generation models. It also features an AI ultra-clear telephoto algorithm to improve long-range photos. Likewise, the Dimensity AI semantic engine intelligently optimizes image frames.
