Samsung is preparing to release a major update for its Internet Browser app with version 29.1.2.23. This update will bring some meaningful improvements to enhance the browsing experience for Galaxy users. However, the company may only push this build alongside the next big Android 16-based software, One UI 8.5.

Samsung Internet Browser version 29.1.2.23: What’s new?

Samsung continues to improve its Internet Browser app with a focus on both design and functionality. Last month, the app introduced Auto Close Unused Tabs and Grid View Mode for smarter tab management and a cleaner design. Samsung has refreshed the icon and welcome screen of its Internet Browser app for a more visually appealing look. This tweak is likely part of the refreshed design language of One UI 8.5. Furthermore, the app introduces a floating, blurred address bar that disappears when scrolling. The browser’s grid layout now resembles Gallery albums, with floating options that make it easier to access some useful functions.

Samsung has also improved the floating bar, allowing users to rearrange and access extra buttons. It makes synced tabs and secret mode more accessible — now requires just a tap from the tabs menu. Moreover, the app introduces a new compact layout for tabs for a more minimal view. Likewise, the stack and list layouts show semi-transparent tabs.

Samsung has also focused on privacy, allowing users to block fixed-position pop-ups. In addition, the browser lets users like videos directly within the app. Another improvement is related to APK downloads — if a file is available on the Galaxy Store, it will install automatically from there. There’s an AI Search option inside the debug settings, which can query either Gemini or Perplexity.

Samsung also makes managing tabs easier with a pop-up menu that shows up when closing the browser. This menu shows the option to close all tabs at once or never show the message again. We’ll let you know when the company releases this build (29.1.2.23) officially at its store.
