Leak Reveals New Camera Features for Galaxy S26 Ultra

The Galaxy S26 Ultra might not deliver major camera hardware upgrades, but Samsung is reportedly preparing some clever new software tricks to keep things fresh. A new leak highlights at least two camera features coming to the 2026 Ultra flagship. Some of these tools could also roll out to older models.

Samsung to enhance Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera experience with new features

Currently, Samsung’s Ultra flagships default to 12MP shots to balance detail with speed and power efficiency. While you can manually switch to 50MP and 200MP modes, the default shots are always 12MP. With the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung is reportedly switching the default to 24MP, delivering twice the resolution without noticeably slowing things down. This should result in sharper portraits and more detailed everyday photos.

Another welcome addition is a focus speed slider in Photo and Video modes. Currently, you can only get a toggle to prioritize focus over speed, with no finer controls. A slider could allow you to get a perfect balance of focus and speed. Note that these features are enabled via Camera Assistant, Samsung’s app that lets Galaxy users fine-tune and personalize the camera experience.

If accurate, these additions will make the Galaxy S26 Ultra a more versatile shooting tool, giving users the balance of automation and control they’ve been asking for. Samsung has been leaning toward smart tuning, refined image processing, and user-focused control rather than brute sensor power.

The tipster also suggests that Samsung will expand the Adaptive Pixel technology to more devices following the Galaxy S26 launch. This feature works by combining multiple lower-resolution images into a single, high-resolution shot, reducing noise and improving clarity. It can help improve image quality in low-light conditions. Samsung may also allow more users to disable HDR10+ and fall back to standard HDR.
