Earlier this month, a report revealed Samsung’s Antioxidant Index feature could debut on the Galaxy Watch 8 series. In fact, the Korean firm already confirmed that the new health feature will arrive in the second half of 2025, though the exact month or date is yet to be revealed. Ahead of its debut, guidance pages have surfaced online, providing details on how it will work, what it can measure, and more.

Here’s how the Antioxidant Index will work on the Galaxy Watch

While digging into the latest version of Samsung Health (6.30.0.109) APK, folks over at Android Authority have discovered more details about the Antioxidant Index feature. This feature will help you track your body’s beta carotene levels when you use a compatible Galaxy Watch’s sensor.

The leak Measurement guide page reveals that you need to connect your Galaxy Watch to your phone. Then, press the pad of your thumb firmly on the center of the sensor on the back of the watch. You can now check the progress of the measurement on your phone via the Samsung Health app. This means the feature won’t work while wearing the watch — you have to remove it to measure your beta carotene levels.

Meanwhile, the About Antioxidant Index page reveals plenty of information, including how it can help users, its importance, different index levels, and more. Antioxidants can help prevent chronic illnesses by removing free radicals and reducing oxidative stress. The health feature will help you understand whether you are eating the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables.

Based on the correlation between fruit and vegetable intake and the accumulation of carotenoids in the skin, the feature will measure your level in three categories: adequate, low, and very low. Previously, we exclusively revealed how your Antioxidant Index level will look in both full and half tile sizes on your Galaxy Watch screen.

However, it’s still unclear whether this feature will be available on older Galaxy Watches or only work with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series. We may learn when Samsung unveils its next-generation smartwatch lineup, expected in the first half of July 2025 during the Summer Unpacked event.
