July Update Hits Galaxy A56 as Samsung Expands Latest Security Fixes

Samsung has begun rolling out the July 2025 security update to its most recent premium mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A56. This update addresses a number of security vulnerabilities in Android and One UI, helping to keep the device protected from the latest threats. A few other models received the new security fixes earlier this week.
Galaxy A56 grabs Samsung’s July 2025 update
The July SMR (Security maintenance Release) is currently live for the international variant of the Galaxy A56 (model number SM-A566B). It carries firmware version A566BXXS5AYFB and is available for download over the air. The update contains 40 vulnerability patches, including one critical Android OS flaw patched by Google.
The Galaxy A56 is the latest to receive these security fixes with Samsung’s July 2025 update. The company previously rolled out the new SMR to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, Fold 6, Flip 6, and a few other devices. It typically rolls out such updates in phases, so while some users may receive the patch immediately, others might need to wait a few more days.
To check if the update is available for your device, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. The Galaxy A56 and the S25 series support seamless updates, so you don’t have to sit out during the installation process. It happens in the background, so your phone will be unusable only during the restart.
However, devices that do not support Android’s seamless updates feature ned to be turned off to install updates. This means a longer downtime, typically taking several minutes. Samsung is expected to offer seamless updates on all future premium mid-range and flagship models, though budget devices may still miss out on this useful feature.
With the July update now rolling out to several devices, Samsung should soon shift its focus to One UI 8. The Android 16-based update should be available in late July or sometime in August. We will keep you posted.
