Samsung has finally launched its much-anticipated slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge, putting an end to months of speculation. The phone arrives as the fourth member of the Galaxy S25 series, with an ultra-thin design as its standout feature. It cuts a few corners but doesn’t compromise on performance much, making it an ideal choice for anyone into slim phones.
Samsung’s slimmest flagship ever is here: Meet the Galaxy S25 Edge
The Korean firm has positioned the Galaxy S25 Edge between its Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. It is Samsung’s slimmest flagship smartphone yet, measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing around 163g. However, unlike other members in the lineup, the Galaxy S25 Edge comes with some compromises, especially in the battery and camera departments. But before that, let’s talk about what’s good!
This phone promises a premium experience thanks to its Galaxy AI features, powerful processor, and more. Equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor (the same as the rest of the S25 series), the S25 Edge will undoubtedly deliver flagship-level performance for power users. We get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
The Galaxy S25 Edge also features a flagship-grade 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, with 3120 x 1440 resolution and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. For protection, it gets the all-new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back. Additionally, the phone has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader embedded under the display and an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
A dual camera setup with a 200MP main sensor
Talking about the cameras, the Galaxy S25 Edge features the same 200MP unit as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with an f/1.7 aperture and an 85-degree field of view (FoV). Its ultrawide lens, however, uses an aged 12MP unit with an F/2.2 aperture and a 120-degree FoV. For selfies, we get a 12MP unit with an f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree FoV. That’s it, there’s no zoom camera here, which is a bummer for a flagship smartphone.
Regarding battery capacity, the Galaxy S25 Edge packs a 3,900mAh battery, the lowest capacity in the lineup. It supports 25W wired charging and 15W wireless (Qi2 Ready) charging. Other features include support for Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and Wi-Fi 7. The phone runs Android 15-based One UI 7, bringing all the Galaxy AI features seen in the other S25 models, including Gemini on the power button.
Pricing and availability
As far as pricing is concerned, the 12GB/256GB model costs $1099, while the 12GB/512GB model costs $1219 in the US. However, as of now, you can only pre-order the phone on Samsung’s official website to avail early perks such as store credits, a free storage upgrade, etc. The open sale begins later this month.
