Instagram for TV Brings Your Favorite Reels to Big Screen

Have you ever wished you could watch Instagram reels on your TV just like YouTube shorts? Well, now you can. Instagram is now available on smart TVs, allowing users to enjoy short videos from their favorite creators on the big screen. As of now, Amazon Fire TV users in the US can get this experience. The company also promises to make it available to more devices and countries at a later date.
Instagram for TV lets you watch reels with family and friends
In its latest blog post, Instagram announced that it is starting to test Instagram for TV. The new app brings reels from your favorite creators to the big screen so you can enjoy them with friends. “We’ve heard from our community that watching reels together is more fun, and this test is designed to learn which features make that experience work best on TV,” the company noted.
To get started, you need to install the Instagram app on your TV (for now, Fire TV ) and sign in with your account. You can also let everyone in your home enjoy a personalized feed of reels by adding up to 5 accounts. On top of that, if you want a different viewing experience from your main Instagram profile, you can do so by creating a separate account just for Instagram on TV.

The TV app groups reels into channels based on your interests. These channels include topics like music, sports highlights, hidden travel gems, trending moments, and more. Videos play automatically with full sound, meaning you do not need to scroll for the next clip.
Furthermore, you can search for your favorite creators or explore content on topics you enjoy. Instagram says it will bring several new features in the future. This includes using your phone as a remote, an easier way to channel surf, and shared feeds with friends.
Speaking of safety, the app generally follows a PG-13 content rating, similar to its mobile app. For teens, safeguards limit access to content, comments, and profiles that may not be suitable for those under 18. Moreover, a teen account’s usage limits apply to time spent on Instagram for TV, and teens get reminders when they are close to or have reached these limits.
