Here’s What Galaxy Tablet Users Must Do Before Updating to One UI 7

Samsung is now rolling out its Android 15-based One UI 7 for eligible Galaxy devices in multiple regions, including the US. Alongside a bunch of flagship smartphones, the update is available for the Galaxy Tab S10 and Tab S9 series in some regions. As the rollout expands globally, Samsung has issued a notice to its Galaxy tablet users explaining some things to do before updating to One UI 7.

Samsung warns Galaxy tablet users about One UI 7 bugs and shares pre-update steps

As you know, Samsung started the rollout of stable One UI 7 on April 7. But a few days later, the Korean firm paused the rollout due to some bugs within the build. It looks like the internal issue has now been fixed, and the company is pushing the One UI 7 to more eligible devices.

However, Samsung seems to have been experiencing another issue, particularly in the One UI 7 build for tablets. Now that the global rollout for eligible Galaxy tablets is beginning, it has issued a notice, saying, “If you proceed with the OS upgrade without taking these measures under the conditions mentioned above, you may experience persistent home screen errors, causing significant inconvenience.”

The notice particularly applies to those who use Good Lock’s Home Up customizations. Samsung says that if you have used the Apps Screen Layout within the Home Up module to make the home screen layout a longer vertical arrangement than horizontal (e.g., 5×7 grid), then you should change the home screen layout to a horizontal grid (e.g., 5×7 → 7×5). Additionally, if you are using a widget that fills the entire vertical space (e.g., a 3×7 widget), you should remove that widget.

It’s good to see that Samsung has been addressing these internal issues before they become widespread problems. While some users might find these steps a bit inconvenient, it’s clear that the company wants to provide its users a smoother and stable transition to One UI 7. If you use a Galaxy Tab, it’s in your best interest to follow the outlined steps before installing One UI 7.
