Here’s the Story Behind Samsung’s Innovative Galaxy XR

Samsung has recently launched the much-awaited Galaxy XR, bringing immersive mixed reality experiences with multimodal AI. The company has now shared an inside look at the making of its first XR headset through a video. It highlights how Samsung engineers planned, designed, and built this cutting-edge technology.
Galaxy XR marks a new era of the XR ecosystem with AI at its core
Hosted by technology journalist Lucy Hedges, the video took viewers inside Samsung Digital City in Suwon, South Korea. Lucy talked with Kihwan Kim, EVP and Head of Immersive Solution R&D Team, and Sean Choi, Immersive Solution R&D Team. Executives explored how Samsung improved the device’s multimodal AI so it can understand eye movements, hand gestures, and voice commands. They also explained how Samsung worked closely with Google to define the overall Android XR experience.
Sean said the device fit was one of the most important and challenging parts of the project. Engineers had to make sure that all the sensors were positioned perfectly for different users. Moreover, they look at individual wearing habits, so the device worked well for everyone.
“From the first CDMA devices of the 1980s to ultra-slim smartphones and now to Galaxy XR, Samsung has never stopped trying to redefine how we experience the world for the better,” said Lucy Hedges.” One of the first things that really stood out for me about the Galaxy XR is just how wonderfully intuitive it is.”
