We know that Samsung is developing its next-gen Android 16-based user interface, One UI 8. Its early look has already surfaced on the web, suggesting One UI 8 focuses on improving design elements rather than significant changes. We now have a fresh look at the Quick Share app in One UI 8, which reveals that Samsung is working on adding a blur effect to the app alongside new receive and send pages.
Refined Quick Share app with blur effects
As One UI 8’s development is underway, the Korean firm is also updating its apps as part of the development. So far, several system apps have been updated, including Weather, Internet, Gallery, and My Files. While these are not available publicly, developers and enthusiasts have managed to sideload those apps on their devices, giving us an early look.
One such user, @choehau_alen on X, recently shared screenshots from One UI 8’s Quick Share app, showing the refreshed UI. The updated Quick Share interface now features a blur effect in the background. Interestingly, we have seen a similar blur effect on other One UI 8 system apps, too.
For instance, in the redesigned Samsung Internet app, many UI elements, including the pop-up menu background, show a blur effect. Samsung has also added a new blur effect in dialog boxes in the redesigned Gallery app. This suggests Samsung may be preparing a blur effect for more system apps in One UI 8 as a part of a broader visual overhaul.
Other notable changes in the redesigned Quick Share app
In addition to that, we see that Quick Share has added dedicated “Receive” and “Send” pages. When the Receive page is open, it temporarily shows everyone the name of the device, allowing others to easily share content with you, which is quite convenient.
Interestingly, these new additions are not limited to Galaxy devices only — similar functionality is also coming to Android 16. This suggests that we may see a major overhaul within the Quick Share app in Android 16, and, by extension, One UI 8.
The best part is we won’t have to wait much longer to see all the enhancements of the Quick Share app in One UI 8 and stock Android 16. Google may release the stable version of Android 16 next month, and Samsung is likely to launch One UI 8 along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July 2025.
