Google Testing Cooler Animations for Voice Search

There’s a lot happening at Google, and things could change quickly in the coming weeks for better. Right now, tapping the microphone in the Google app lets you search by voice for anything. If you want to find a song, you can select “Search for a song,” hum or sing a tune, and see the results. This works well if you know a line or two and want to identify a track.
Google beta revamps voice search to make finding songs more fun
Now, Google seems to be testing an animation update that gives the feature a more lively, disco-inspired feel. Spotted by Telegram user @shishirverm (via Android Authority), the new animation has appeared in Google app beta v16.36.40.sa.arm64.
The updated design simplifies the interface by removing previous and suggested searches from the main voice search screen. In their place, a pulsing animation similar to the one used in Google’s AI voice mode greets users with the prompt, “What’s on your mind?” The song search page has been redesigned to match this style, featuring the same pulsing effect and a larger, more prominent “Play Sing Hum” button that stands out on the screen.
Functionality has not changed. You can still hum, sing, or play a snippet, but the new look makes the experience feel more dynamic and visually engaging. The colors, animations, and overall style give off a strong AI-inspired vibe.
It’s worth noting that this update is not widely available yet. Like many of Google’s experiments, the rollout appears to be server-side. This means that even those users with the latest beta version may still see the old layout.
