Google May Introduce Gemini Ultra to Offer Unlimited or Expanded AI Capabilities

by | May 1, 2025 | News

Google is offering its Gemini AI to all Android users for free. But if users want more advanced AI models and other powerful features, they need to opt for the Gemini Advanced subscription through the Google One AI Premium plan. Now, it looks like the company is planning to introduce a new subscription tier, potentially called the Gemini Ultra. This Ultra plan might offer users increased or unlimited access to specific features.

A new Gemini Ultra subscription tier appeared in the Gemini web interface

X user @BartokGabi17 (via Testingcatalog) recently spotted the mention of Gemini Ultra in the Gemini web interface. When using Gemini’s Veo 2 model for video generation, the app displayed a banner that reads “Continue with Gemini Ultra. You’ve reached your limit of generated videos. Try again 30 Apr at 21 or upgrade to Gemini Ultra.”

This hints that Google is planning to introduce a Gemini Ultra plan that will offer users more usage limits or even unlimited usage to certain powerful features, such as video generation. As of now, Google is offering the Gemini Advanced subscription as part of Google One AI Premium, which costs $19.99 per month. It allows users to access Google’s most capable AI models, such as Gemini 2.5 Pro. On top of that, it offers a bunch of powerful AI features such as Deep Research and Veo 2 video generation.

Last month, Android Authority reported that Google may introduce two new Google One AI plans to compete with ChatGPT. These plans will likely be called “AI Premium Plus” and “AI Premium Pro,” which match ChatGPT’s plan branding — ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro. The publication expects Google One’s upcoming AI Premium Pro plan to offer unlimited access to various AI features, just like ChatGPT Pro, but with a hefty monthly price tag.

All things considered, it seems like the Gemini Ultra might be part of these two upcoming Google One AI plans. Right now, both Google One AI plans are hidden within the APK file of Google Photos v7.26. Now that references to Gemini Ultra started popping up on both mobile and web platforms of Gemini AI, its launch seems imminent. The company may officially announce these plans during the upcoming Google I/O event, which will start on May 20, 2025.
