While millions of Samsung Galaxy device users are waiting for the Android 15-based One UI 7, Google is nearing the completion of its Android 16 beta phase. Google has confirmed that it will drop the Android 16 beta 4 tomorrow, which could probably be the final beta build. The stable version of Android 16 might arrive in early June 2025, earlier than its usual release schedule.
Android 16 beta 4 drops tomorrow, but Samsung is still struggling with One UI 7
The Android 16 beta 4 comes slightly over a month after the third beta. Android 16 beta 3 also had minor 3.1 and 3.2 updates. Google has shared on X that the 4th beta is dropping tomorrow, so Pixels are ahead once more. This is merely a teaser, and we don’t know about the new features in this beta. We will have to wait for Google to publish the factory images for Pixels before we can install the betas.

So far, Android 16 has had a few new features, including an embedded photo picker, a better privacy sandbox, APV Codec support, better adaptive refresh rate, adaptive app sizes, notification cooldown, and more. The bigger changes include a new Quick Settings design and a more customizable redesign of the notification panel.
Meanwhile, Samsung is still struggling to roll out its Android 15-based One UI 7. However, that may not be the case with the Android 16-based One UI 8. The Korean firm has already started developing One UI 8, and it will reportedly ship with the upcoming 2025 foldable devices, which usually arrive in July or August. As of now, there’s no word on when Samsung will start its One UI 8 beta program, but it likely won’t face delays this time around.
Based on what we see in the early One UI 8 internal build, the upcoming UI looks like a refinement and optimization update since One UI 7 had major design changes. In other words, One UI 8 could be more of an unreleased One UI 7.1 or 7.1.1 (which the company skipped this year), but with Android 16 features on top of that.
