Galaxy Z TriFold Gets Its First Software Update with Security Fixes

Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold was one of the most exciting products at CES 2026. While the device has been available in some markets since December last year, it’s yet to arrive in the US. The company is expected to roll it out stateside in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Samsung is pushing the first software update to the phone, introducing the January 2026 security patch.

Galaxy Z TriFold receives January 2026 security update

The Galaxy Z TriFold is picking up its first update in South Korea. The new firmware carries the build number F968NKSS2AZA1 and weighs just over 541MB. It brings the January 2026 security patch and nothing more. The release may be somewhat boring for users, but it does address dozens of security vulnerabilities behind the scenes, covering both Android OS flaws and Samsung-specific issues.

These security fixes recently made it to the Galaxy S25 series, Fold 7, and Flip 7 as well. Samsung will gradually push the update to more devices. It is simultaneously working on One UI 8.5 with tons of new features and enhancements. This update will debut with the Galaxy S26 series before rolling out to existing devices. All Galaxy smartphones and tablets currently running One UI 8 will receive One UI 8.5.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will also get this update. But for now, users must be content with a relatively boring security patch, which should make its way into more markets in the coming days (this phone is sold in a handful of regions outside Korea, with a US release coming soon). To check for updates, go to Settings > Software update and tap Download and install.

If an update shows up, you can proceed to download it. The Galaxy Z TriFold supports seamless updates, so the installation process will complete in the background before you need to restart the device. On devices that do not support seamless updates, the phone remains unusable through the entire installation process.
