Galaxy Z TriFold Chipset Confirmed in Internal One UI 8 Beta Build

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 haven’t even hit store shelves yet, but leaks about Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold are already making the rounds. Just today, it was revealed that Samsung has registered a new trademark, which may or may not end up being the final product name. Now, a One UI 8 beta build has potentially revealed the chipset that will power the Galaxy Z TriFold.
Turns out Galaxy Z TriFold will have Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset!
Folks over at Android Authority dug into an internal One UI 8 beta build, which appears to confirm the chipset we’ll see in the Galaxy Z TriFold. Unfortunately, or perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s not something entirely unexpected or new. As it turns out, the Galaxy Z TriFold is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

More specifically, the internal beta build includes a code string referencing “siop_q7mq_sm8750.” The “q7mq” portion looks to be the codename for Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, while “sm8750” refers to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
It might feature a 10-inch main display and a camera setup similar to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Unlike the Huawei Mate X5 Ultimate, it will fold inward. It will ship with One UI 8 at launch. Pricing won’t be cheap, with reports pointing to a $2,900 price tag.
Ice Universe today shared that Samsung may debut the Galaxy Z TriFold in October. Earlier reports suggest the initial release could be limited to South Korea and China. Which aligns with the rumored launch timeline.
If the launch slips past October, there’s a case to be made for upgrading to the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The original Snapdragon 8 Elite will already be a generation old by then. Qualcomm’s next-gen chip will be announced at the Snapdragon Summit in late September.
