Galaxy Z Fold 7 Retains 4,400mAh Battery, Relies on AI Optimizations

Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the same 4,400mAh battery capacity as its predecessor. Since the new model has bigger screens, there are concerns about its battery life. However, it looks like the company is confident in its AI-powered optimizations for enhanced power efficiency.
Expect the Galaxy S25 Edge’s AI battery optimizations on the Galaxy Z Fold 7
A few weeks ago, Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, a slim phone with a 6.7-inch flagship display. While it’s a big handset, a slim build (5.8mm thick) means a modest battery capacity of 3,900mAh. Surprisingly, the device still pulls through the day with moderate usage. Not quite at the same level as the rest of the lineup, but the S25 Edge offers a reasonable battery life.
Samsung claims that AI-powered battery optimizations, combined with efficiency gains from its new processor, allow its slim flagship to deliver impressive performance despite a smaller battery. The company is relying on these enhancements for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 to deliver battery life on par with — or even better than — the Fold 6, despite featuring larger displays.
The Korean firm may also roll out these battery optimizations to existing Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25 and S24 flagships. The One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, could bring these enhancements. Samsung is currently beta testing One UI 8 for the 2025 flagships. It may soon release beta updates for more devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will run the new version out of the box.
The new foldable may go official sometime in July, with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip FE, and Galaxy Watch 8 series expected to accompany it. Samsung may hold the Unpacked event for these devices in New York, USA. Stick around for more information.
