A few days ago, Samsung rolled out the first software update for its new foldables,  the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip 7 FE. It introduced the July security patch with a bunch of key fixes. The company has now started pushing the August 2025 security update to the devices, with the Fold model leading the charge.

Galaxy Z Fold 7’s August 2025 security patch brings a bootloader update

Samsung is currently rolling out the August update to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its home country of South Korea. The update comes over the air (OTA) with the firmware build number F966NKSU3AYGH and a download size of over 550MB. The changelog mentions the latest security fixes and system stability improvements. There aren’t any new features or enhancements.

The Korean firm has already confirmed nearly 50 vulnerability patches in its August SMR (Security Maintenance Release). Additionally, the build number confirms a bootloader upgrade — the previous (July 2025) build number was F966NKSS2AYG5. The fifth digit from the last has changed from 2 to 3, which means system-level security enhancements. You won’t be able to roll back to the previous firmware after installing the August build.

With the Fold 7 now getting this update, Samsung could soon release the August SMR for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE. Expect a similar set of changes, without any additional goodies. Samsung may not roll out a feature update to these foldables until it kicks off the stable One UI 8 rollout for the Galaxy S25 series next month. The foldable trio ships with One UI 8 out of the box.

Samsung also recently released the August patch for the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, and Flip 6. These devices are expected to receive the One UI 8 beta this week. The beta updates will be available in the US, the UK, India, and South Korea.
