It’s only a matter of a few weeks, and we’ll see Samsung unpacking the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 at the usual July event. Some reports suggest that Samsung may be returning to host the event in New York after a short hiatus. Some key specs for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 have already leaked, including its thickness, full dimensions, chipset, and more. You might think the phones running One UI 8.0 at launch could be the most exciting part. You’re right. But only partly.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 thickness, other details have already made their way out
Samsung is paying close attention to the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s thickness and screen size. For screen size, it could measure 8.2 inches when unfolded and 6.5 inches for the cover screen. This brings it closer to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Now let’s talk about the thickness.
@TheGalox_ helpfully compares the thickness of all Galaxy Z Fold generations, showing how Samsung has reduced the thickness from the first-gen Galaxy Z Fold to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7. Here’s a visual chart for comparison.
As you can see, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is just 8.2mm thick when folded (thinner when unfolded). Number-wise, it seems to be 8.9mm thinner than the original Galaxy Fold, which is about 52% thinner. Will you notice this in daily use? Absolutely. Samsung has done a fantastic job reducing the thickness of foldables over the years. That’s to the point where the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is now less than half as thick compared to the original Galaxy Fold.
With the launch just a few weeks away, we’ll share the official figures soon. However, repeated rumors have almost confirmed what’s coming.
