Galaxy Z Fold 7 survives ice, water, and drop durability tests with flying colors

YouTuber Gupta Information System published a durability video of the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 7. The trials kicked off with the Frozen Overnight Challenge, where the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was encased in ice for over 12 hours. Remarkably, once thawed and cleaned, the device powered on without missing a beat.

Next up, the phone took a plunge into rapidly flowing river water for more than half an hour. Despite facing sand and water pressure head-on, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 performed flawlessly. The hinges and charging ports worked like a charm, proving the effectiveness of its IP48 water resistance rating. You can watch the full video (in Hindi) here:

The durability test didn’t stop there. The phone was also put through the wringer against nine different everyday liquids, including tea, coffee, soda, and both hot and cold water. After a thorough cleaning, the device showed no signs of malfunction or internal damage, running as smoothly as ever.

In addition, the build quality was put to the test with scratch trials. The main screen held its ground against scratches up to levels 6 and 7 on the scratch scale, while the back and camera lens stayed well-protected. Although the inner screen is softer, it stood up well to regular daily use.

Finally, the phone braved drop and bend tests. Even when dropped from heights up to six feet, the screens and folding mechanism stayed intact. There was minor bending, but no real damage to speak of. As it turns out, and as the saying goes, Samsung really cooked with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This comes on the heels of reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can withstand 500,000 folds. That’s quite a leap from its predecessor’s 200,000 folds, giving it 2.5 times the durability.
