Analysts say the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 might set a new pre-order record

Korean outlet The Fact, citing industry analysts, reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 could break all previous pre-order records in South Korea. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 currently hold the record, with around 1.02 million pre-orders. That’s a tough number to beat, and last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 didn’t even come close. But this year’s foldables might just turn the tide.

In fact, the new foldables are already off to a strong start, which analysts see as a sign that demand is about to take off. Even before the official launch and pre-orders began, more than 160,000 people had signed up to get their hands on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Numbers like that don’t go unnoticed.

There are other reasons why the new foldables could be in for a lucky break. Right now, the South Korean mobile market is dealing with some turbulence. SK Telecom, one of the country’s biggest carriers, recently suffered a major hacking incident. Customers are jumping ship, and rivals like KT and LG U+ are more than happy to scoop them up. In response, SK Telecom is trying to stop the bleeding by offering steep discounts on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

At the same time, a key regulation was just rolled back, which required carriers to publicly disclose their subsidy deals. So carriers can now quietly offer generous incentives.
