Galaxy Z Fold 5, Flip 5 Get January 2026 Update from Samsung

It’s raining updates at Samsung today. After the Galaxy S23 and S22 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 are also receiving new updates. Like the S series models, these foldables are getting Samsung’s January 2026 security patch, which addresses more than 50 vulnerabilities. The updates should reach users worldwide in the coming days.
January 2026 security update now live for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5
As is typical for Samsung, the January 2026 security update for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 is initially rolling out in South Korea, the company’s home market. The new firmware build version for the phones is FZA1. Samsung will gradually push the updates in more markets. The January release for the Galaxy S23 and S22 lineups is also currently limited to Korea.
Besides this month’s 50-odd security patches, these devices aren’t getting anything more. There could be some hidden bug fixes and stability improvements, but Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 users shouldn’t expect much. Samsung is focusing on the security side of things here.
That said, it is actively working on a major feature release for Galaxy devices. One UI 8.5, based on Android 16 (QPR2), is currently in the beta phase, with the stable release expected in a couple of months. Samsung will introduce the update with the Galaxy S26 series and gradually roll it out to older models. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 should receive One UI 8.5 by June 2026.
Of course, there’s a lot of time for that. These foldables will receive a few more security patches before Samsung finally upgrades them to One UI 8.5. Users should install new security releases as soon as available, so they remain safe from the latest vulnerabilities.
