Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 Spotted with One UI 8.5 Test Build

Samsung is actively working on its next major software release, One UI 8.5. Over the past week, test builds have been spotted for several Galaxy devices. This clearly shows that development is moving at a good pace. Recently, Samsung’s 2023 foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, have also appeared on test servers with One UI 8.5.
One UI 8.5 Testing Expands to Older Galaxy Foldables
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 have now been spotted on Samsung’s test servers in regions like India, Europe, and Turkey. Builds for more regions should show up soon. As shared by tipster Tarun Vats, the One UI 8.5 build version for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is F946BXXU5GYLB. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 carries the build number F731BXXU5GYLB.
That said, One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 will not arrive anytime soon. The stable update is expected around mid-May. However, Samsung has not officially confirmed this timeline. Samsung’s update schedule can be very unpredictable at times. If you think One UI 8.5 will be the final update for these devices, you are wrong. Both phones launched with Android 13 out of the box. They should remain eligible up to Android 17, likely arriving by the end of next year. Android 17 is expected to be their last major OS update.
Other foldables that have already been spotted with One UI 8.5 test builds include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 should also receive One UI 8.5 soon. Their test builds are expected to appear on servers soon.
One UI 8.5 is shaping up to be Samsung’s next big software update. It is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26 series early next year. Although it is based on Android 16 QPR2, the update brings UI changes, better customization options, new features, and improved blur effects across the system. In a nutshell, the One UI 8.5 will be a bigger change compared to One UI 8.
