Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 are now receiving their last major OS upgrade globally. The Android 15-based One UI 7 update is available for the foldable duo in more markets, including India. The 2021 foldables previously picked up this update in the US, Korea, and several other regions.
Samsung rolls out One UI 7 to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 globally
Samsung has been rolling out the One UI 7 update to Galaxy devices since early April. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 joined the party late in the month, but it was a limited rollout in select markets. The company has finally kicked off a global release of One UI 7 for these two foldables. The update comes with the firmware version JYD9 and carries an OTA file size of around 3.5GB. It also includes the April 2025 security patch.
Launched with Android 11 and One UI 3 in late 2021, this is the final major OS upgrade for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. Samsung promised four generations of OS upgrades and delivered updates to Android 12/One UI 4, Android 13/One UI 5, Android 14/One UI 6, and now, Android 15/One UI 7. Going forward, these foldables will only receive security patches and maybe a few minor feature releases.
However, we do not expect Samsung to roll out One UI 8 to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3. Based on Android 16, this update may arrive later this year for other eligible models, with a limited beta run beginning as early as this month. Samsung may officially introduce One UI 8 in July during the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch. The new foldables are expected to ship with the Android 16 update out of the box.
One UI 7 will also be available for more eligible Galaxy devices in the coming weeks. Users can check for updates by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
