Galaxy Z Flip 7’s Exynos 2500 to Support Satellite Connectivity

It’s no secret that Samsung will integrate its in-house Exynos 2500 chip into the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Leaks have already revealed a fair amount of details about the upcoming 3nm flagship chipset, and we now know it will support satellite connectivity. This means the Flip 7 will be able to connect to satellites in areas without cellular coverage. However, there’s a catch — it will work only on Skylo’s network.
Samsung teams up with Skylo to enable satellite connectivity support in Exynos 2500
Built on a cutting-edge 3nm process, the Exynos 2500 chip did not make its way into the flagship Galaxy S25 series. Thankfully, the Korean firm is now set to debut the long-awaited processor in the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Skylo recently confirmed that the chip will support satellite connectivity. In case you are unfamiliar, Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites.
In its press release, Skylo wrote, “Today, we are excited to announce the certification of the Exynos 2500 mobile processor, offering better energy efficiency and higher performance”. Last year, Skylo and Samsung completed the certification process for the Exynos Modem 5400. This will allow them to offer satellite connectivity everywhere on 3GPP NTN standards.
“Through our collaboration on the Samsung Exynos Modem 5400 and the Exynos 2500 mobile processor, mainstream devices worldwide will now have the underlying technology to connect to satellites wherever cellular networks are unavailable, ushering in a new era of ubiquitous connectivity,” said Hui Won Je, VP of Modem Development Team at Samsung Electronics.
The addition of satellite support makes the Galaxy Z Flip 7 more compelling, especially for users who need reliable connectivity in remote or emergency situations. If Samsung manages to deliver improved performance and power efficiency with the Exynos 2500, the Flip 7 could set a new benchmark for foldable smartphones.
