Galaxy Z Flip 7’s Battery Capacity Revealed, a Big Boost in Store

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 is shaping up to deliver significantly longer battery life than its predecessor, the Flip 6. Alongside a more efficient display and chipset, reports suggest that the device will also pack a larger battery. Its wider profile may have allowed Samsung to accommodate a bigger battery.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a larger battery, more efficient display

Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 has the same dimensions (165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9 mm) as the Flip 5 but Samsung still fit a bigger battery inside it (4,000mAh vs. 3,700mAh). The company is now making the Flip 7 slightly bigger to further increase the battery capacity. The word is that the upcoming model will measure 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm, which makes it slightly taller and noticeably wider than the 2024 and 2023 models.

This change not only allowed Samsung to increase the internal display size from 6.7 inches to 6.8 inches and the cover screen from 3.4 inches to 3.6 inches but also pack a bigger battery. Galaxy Club reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s two battery packs have rated capacities of 2,985mAh (EB-BF767ABY) and 1,189mAh (EB-BF766ABY), taking the total to 4,174mAh.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6’s combined rated battery capacity is 3,887mAh but its typical capacity is 4,000mAh. This means the Flip 7 will likely have a typical capacity of around 4,300 mAh, a significant improvement that should result in longer battery life. The efficiency gains from the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and CoE-supported displays should further improve battery endurance.

Samsung also has an affordable clamshell foldable in the pipeline this year. There isn’t much information about the dimensions and battery capacity of the Galaxy Z Flip FE. More details should be available closer to its launch. The company should debut the Flip 7, Fold 7, and Flip FE in July. It’s unclear whether the rumored tri-fold will accompany them or follow later.
