A few days ago, a Samsung executive suggested that the Galaxy S25’s AI-powered Now Brief feature may not roll out to older models. They said it requires a powerful NPU, hinting that only the Snapdragon 8 Elite and newer processors can handle it. However, a fresh rumor claims the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will support Now Brief. This could either mean the device1 will run the 8 Elite or the feature isn’t as demanding as initially believed.
Does the Galaxy Z Flip 7 feature Snapdragon 8 Elite or Exynos 2500?
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has been widely rumored to feature the Exynos 2500, Samsung’s first 3nm mobile processor. If leaks are accurate, this chip can’t hold a candle against the Snapdragon 8 Elite powering the Galaxy S25 series. Since the Flip lineup has never been about top-notch performance but mostly a style statement, it makes sense why Samsung won’t push for the most powerful processor available.
However, X tipster @PandaFlashPro, who has been sharing insider info about Samsung’s upcoming foldables, claims the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will support Now Brief. In fact, the device is said to offer the “best integration” of this AI-powered feature thanks to a cover display, and we can already visualize it. Now Brief, a personalized information hub in the lock screen, would fit nicely into the Flip’s tiny cover screen.
The question here is: Does the Exynos 2500 has a powerful enough NPU to run this feature? This concern arises from a recent comment by Sally Hyesoon Jeong, an EVP at Samsung’s mobile experience division. “AI features that utilize on-device processing, such as a personal data engine, require advanced chipsets and hardware like those in the Galaxy S25 Series with Snapdragon 8 Elite,” she said.
Perhaps “Snapdragon 8 Elite” was just a reference and all recent flagship mobile processors can run Now Brief. Or alternatively, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 won’t use the Exynos 2500 but the latest Qualcomm flagship. We shall find out in the coming months. The new foldable will go official sometime in July or August this year.
