Galaxy Wide Fold Leak Reveals Tablet-Like 3:4 Inner Screen

Samsung is preparing a notable shake-up of its foldable portfolio with a brand-new device tentatively called the Galaxy Wide Fold. This model could introduce a wider, more tablet-like form factor to the Galaxy Z lineup, offering a fresh alternative to the existing Fold, TriFold, and Flip designs. Tipster Ice Universe recently shared information and imagery highlighting how the device may differ from current Samsung foldables.
Galaxy Wide Fold has a 3:4 folding display
The Galaxy Wide Fold is said to feature a 7.6-inch inner display, the same diagonal size as the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, while the current Fold models use a taller, narrower inner screen, the Wide Fold adopts a 3:4 aspect ratio. This would make the unfolded display noticeably wider, bringing it closer to the proportions of a small tablet. The phone will be shorter in height but wider across.
This wider layout could significantly improve certain use cases. Reading documents, browsing the web, multitasking with split-screen apps, and watching videos could all feel more natural on a display that prioritizes width over height. It would also help Samsung address long-standing criticism that its Fold phones feel too tall and narrow when unfolded, especially compared to traditional tablets.
Previous reports indicate that the Galaxy Wide Fold may also be part of a broader strategic move. Samsung is making the device in response to Apple, which may launch its first foldable iPhone later this year with a similar form factor. Both firms aim to minimize the crease on the display and could adopt Samsung’s new creaseless foldable OLED showcased at CES 2026.
If the leaks are accurate, Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Wide Fold as early as July, potentially alongside its next generation of foldables. As more leaks surface, we should get a clearer picture of whether this device is a niche experiment or the future direction of foldables.
